Need help? Our Pool Experts are here to help.
While both are good choices, there can only be one winner. While almost identical on paper, the Sigma outperforms the Elite Pro.
Read the full article >Hey guys, it’s Joshua with Poolbots.com, and today we are putting the Dolphin Sigma and the Aquabot Elite Pro, two of the top robots on the market today, head-to-head!
These robotic pool cleaners are almost identical on paper. They both include waterline cleaning, an anti-tangle swivel, split spinning brushes, easy to remove filter cartridges, a gyroscope, three motors, and a three-year warranty. There are a few key differences between these robots that can help you decide which one is best for your pool, and if you’d like to learn more about each bot individually, then check out our reviews on both! To compare these two bots we will be looking at their waterline cleaning ability, filter options, and connectivity.
First, let’s dive a little deeper into what makes these cleaners the top of their class. As we said, both come with a gyroscope and three motors, which are truly premium features that you won’t find on other residential pool robots. The gyroscope helps both robots monitor their position, orientation, and direction precisely so they can not only clean your pool more efficiently, but can also climb to and stay at the waterline consistently.
The three motors are essential to waterline cleaning as well. The third motor powers the Dolphin Sigma and Aquabot Elite Pro to really deeply clean the waterline once it gets there, and it gives them the power to climb up virtually any pool wall.
Now let’s look at the filter options. The Dolphin Sigma comes with options for both a fine and ultra-fine cartridge. The Aquabot Elite Pro only includes one filter type that does a good job at capturing a variety of debris, but lacks the ability to get the ultra-fine debris that clouds your pool water. The Sigma’s ultrafine filter excels at picking up this kind of debris so that you can have crystal clear pool water. Besides this, we found it was much easier to take apart the Sigma’s filter cartridges and get it fully clean. Since all 3 parts of the filter snap off individually, it’s easy to spray off and rinse, while the Aquabot can only be cleaned from one side. The Sigma wins the filter category for both effectiveness and ease of use.
Another great feature we’d like to highlight that comes with both of these robotic pool cleaners is their app connectivity. The Dolphin Sigma uses the myDolphin app and the Aquabot Elite Pro uses the Aquabot RC app. Both allow you to control the robots, schedule cleanings, manually navigate, and much more. So they ultimately perform about the same.
So in the end, either robot is a good choice, and it simply comes down to your price point and brand preference.
