Nautilus CC Supreme Review

Hey guys, I’m Joshua with Poolbots.com. And today we’re taking a closer look at the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme.

This is the premium model in Dolphin’s popular Nautilus line. But for $1500, the Nautilus CC Supreme is one of the most expensive residential robotic pool cleaners you can buy. We’ve tested it to see whether it’s worth that price, or if it falls short of more advanced and less expensive options like Dolphin’s Premier and Sigma.

Let’s take a look at what all comes with the CC Supreme.

Design and Features

You’ll notice right as you take it out of the box—it’s on the heavy side. It weighs about 24 lbs when it’s dry. The 50-foot cable has an anti-tangle swivel to prevent cord tangling. The top of the unit pops open to access the filter cartridges. They snap in and out of the cleaner. Its power supply has a simple interface, because most of the CC Supreme’s controls are on the MyDolphin app. Setting up the app and pairing it to your unit is pretty straightforward, as long as you’re close to a WiFi source, which we'll talk more about later.

Control and Navigation

Once you’re in the app, you have a lot of hands-off control at your fingertips. You can schedule a weekly timer so the Nautilus CC Supreme runs on its own. There are options to delay cleanings and even manually navigate the unit from your phone. You can choose a quick, standard, or enhanced cleaning depending on what your pool needs.

Cleaning Performance

We’d describe this model’s cleaning coverage as strong and steady. It climbs walls and scrubs the waterline, which is the dirtiest part of every pool. These tracks are responsible for its climbing capabilities. The tough rubber notches help grip pool surfaces, even vertical ones. The CC Supreme won’t clean the tanning ledge or underwater steps, so you’ll need to manually clean those.

While its coverage was solid, we wouldn’t call it intelligent. This cleaner uses CleverClean technology to navigate the pool for optimal cleaning routes. But it didn’t appear that advanced or calculated in its cleaning paths. In terms of cleaning power, the Nautilus CC Supreme gets the job done. It has 3 split-spinning brushes for deep cleaning. It left behind a noticeable strip of clean pool floor as it did its cleaning, brushing and vacuuming up a lot of silt and sand that had settled to the bottom of the pool. But the CC Supreme struggled with larger debris, specifically leaves. And that leads to filtration.

Filtration System

The filtration system on the Nautilus CC Supreme is the standard offering. There is not an upgrade from lower-priced models. Sure, it’s easy to access with these top-loading cartridges, and the cartridges themselves are simple to empty and clean. But when you’re dealing with pools that see significant leaves, it’s likely not the best choice. The cartridges have a smaller capacity, especially when compared to the oversized leaf bag which is an option on the Dolphin Premier. If your pool gets a moderate to heavy amount of leaves or pine needles like our test pool, be prepared to babysit the CC Supreme. These small cartridges will tend to fill up quickly, and you may have to empty them every 45 minutes to an hour before it can start cleaning again. The second issue with the Nautilus CC Supreme’s filtration is that there are only 2 filter media options available—fine and ultra-fine. If you compare this model with equally powerful and less expensive models like the Dolphin Premier, the CC Supreme falls short. The Premier has MultiMedia, which includes an impressive 4 filter media options. With the CC Supreme, you’re left to do your best with the 2 filter options available, even if your pool really requires something different.

Connectivity and Weight

The Nautilus CC Supreme is a strong, hard-working pool cleaner and has an impressive 3-year limited warranty. But it may fall short in a few areas, depending on your needs. Some users report connectivity issues with the app if their pool is very far from their home’s WiFi source. But when the app is connected, it’s very handy and convenient to use to schedule cleanings and even manually control with the remote function. Its weight is also a problem for some users. 24 pounds may not seem like much, but pulling the CC Supreme out of the water makes it even heavier, despite these quick-release ports on the bottom. The new Dolphin Quantum is about 30% lighter.

Conclusion

At $1500, you should get what you pay for—a truly smart, low-maintenance, hands-off robotic pool cleaner. But the Nautilus CC Supreme falls a little short of earning that price tag. Its limited filtration options prevent a truly customizable clean for your pool, and its underwater efficiency doesn’t exceed the less expensive Dolphin Sigma and its onboard gyroscope and SmartNav 3.0 software.

For a robotic pool cleaner that improves on the CC Supreme’s features at a better price, we suggest looking at the Dolphin Sigma or Dolphin Premier. The Sigma, with its 3 motors, onboard gyroscope, and connectivity, is truly hands-off. And the Premier is the top choice for Multimedia filtration and waterline cleaning.
