Two popular Maytronics robotic pool cleaners go head-to-head to see if they are worth the investment. The Nautilus CC Plus misses the waterline, while the Nautilus CC Supreme doesn't live up to its high price tag when compared to cheaper units such as the Dolphin Premier or Dolphin Sigma.

Nautilus CC Plus vs Nautilus CC Supreme

Introduction

Hey guys, I’m Joshua with Poolbots.com. Today we’re comparing two popular Dolphin Nautilus robotic pool cleaners: the Nautilus CC Plus and the Nautilus CC Supreme. Although these units are from the same line and even look similar, there are some big differences in performance, and especially price. We’ll take a closer look at their pool coverage, cleaning performance, and overall usability to see if either of these units are worth the investment.

Pool Coverage

First, let's talk about coverage.

The Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus and Nautilus CC Supreme both clean the floors and walls of your pool, but only the CC Supreme can clean the waterline. This is the biggest difference between the two, and the one that would have us recommend the Supreme over the Plus, if it wasn’t for its high price tag. This is a big missing feature because it means the Dolphin CC Plus will leave you to clean the scumline which is the dirtiest part of your pool. As we’ve mentioned before, it doesn’t make sense to buy a robot that doesn’t clean the waterline. That’s where the biofilm and fast-growing pathogens like to grow and even thrive. So the CC Supreme easily wins here.

However, the CC Supreme doesn’t clean the waterline any better than the other premium robotic pool cleaners, like the Dolphin Premier, Dolphin Quantum, and Dolphin Sigma. We’d say the CC Supreme cleaned our test pool’s waterline to an acceptable level, but for this price, we’d expect it to raise the bar. This was rather disappointing, as it boasts a much higher price point than the other waterline cleaning units such as the Dolphin Premier, Dolphin Quantum, and Dolphin Sigma.

Cleaning Performance

When it comes to cleaning performance, the Nautilus CC Supreme has a few other features that the Nautilus CC Plus lacks. Where the CC Plus uses two spinning brushes on the front and back, the CC Supreme added a third one on the bottom center. We’re not sure why you would need a 3rd brush. It seems that putting a brush in this center area could adversely affect the ability of the intake ports to pull in large debris.

The CC Supreme also has slightly larger filter cartridges than the CC Plus. Both are top-loading and easy to clean. However, if your pool encounters a lot of leaves and twigs, both of these units lack MultiMedia and the oversized leaf bag option that can be found on the Dolphin Premier. This oversized leaf bag allows you to pick up so many more leaves and will not clog the intakes like in the CC Plus and CC Supreme. MultiMedia also adds the option of a disposable bag. This is a fantastic option for big clean-up jobs like after a storm or at the beginning of the season. We’ve talked to some MultiMedia fans who never clean their robot, preferring just to toss the disposable bag in the trash.

Usability

The Nautilus CC Supreme dominates the CC Plus in usability. It has WiFi connection so you can completely control the Supreme from the MyDolphin app. There are 3 cleanings to choose from: quick, standard, or enhanced. You can also schedule cleanings from the app or control the CC Supreme remotely. Once again though, while this feature may be amazing, it can also be found on the Dolphin Sigma, its cheaper, and equally high-performing alternative.

Where the CC Supreme tries to be technologically advanced, the Nautilus CC Plus takes a much simpler approach. The power supply’s interface isn’t difficult to use. Granted, you have to go outside and manually set the schedule or start a new cleaning job, as opposed to doing it from anywhere on your smartphone. This means you should never have connection issues, but what it makes up for in reliability, it loses in features. All the CC Plus’s power supply can do is set weekly timers, you cannot delay starts, or select cycle lengths like you can on the Dolphin Sigma.

Conclusion

Ultimately, both the Nautilus CC Plus and Nautilus CC Supreme are decent robotic pool cleaners, but neither is a good value. The CC Plus lacks too many important features for us to recommend over similarly priced units like the Dolphin Quantum or Premier. The CC Plus’s low-cost approach means you will be missing critical features that a pool owner will want and need. The CC Supreme under delivers on its higher price by offering the same experience found on lower-priced robots like the Dolphin Sigma and Premier, which are a much better value.

At the end of the day, we just can’t choose a robot without waterline cleaning, so we are picking the CC Supreme over the Plus. The 50% longer warranty also drove our decision.
